It is the dirt, the rain, the blood and the tears.
It is the first bud to burst and the last bunch to harvest.
It is the bottle unforgotten.

Who we are.
Praeter was started by Matt Large in 2018 after his first vintage working in Barolo the year prior. It was born from a desire to explore and attempt to understand Nebbiolo in Australia’s soil and climate, but since Praeter’s establishment it has developed into a lens through which Matt has been able to select and celebrate choice parcels of fruit from special vineyards in both Australia and Italy; always putting sensitivity and quality at the fore.
Now Matt has the privilege of exploring Nebbiolo in both hemispheres as well as building a portfolio of both Italian and French varieties that help express the diversity of place and time through which Matt has had the joy of making wine.
